August Camping Trip

This August we were able to camping with our good friends Doug and Julie and their little boy. We had a lot of fun, but it was way too short. We went up to Grand Jean. It was a beautiful place and the kids had a lot of fun playing. There was creek that ran around the whole campground that we were able to play in both days. It was very hot for the mountains 95 degrees when we arrived at 4:30.

Grand Jean

Doug and David after fixing everyone breakfast. Amy had the camera, I thought she did a great job.

This campsite that we picked had a ton of boulders. It was really cool in the daytime and the kids had fun playing on them, but at night it was quite dangerous. There was one rock by the picnic table that everyone would trip on. Not the best choice at night.

Amy took this picture of Parker and I. It is a little blurry, but I thought it turned out cute.

We had found this little lap desk at the DI before we came up camping. It has a place to put crayons and paper on the inside. She carried it everywhere she went. There was some kids next to us that were her age and she kept running over to play with them. Amy's questions every time we have camped is, "Where are all the people?" and "Who will I play with?" She was happy to see there were kids right next to us. We had to just make sure she didn't over stay her welcome. Her Daddy's idea of camping is to be as far away from people as possible.

Amy throwing rocks into the water.

In between throwing rocks both the kids enjoyed climbing on this old log.

David made is way out to this big boulder.

Here is almost everyone together. Parker and I are not in the picture. Amy was trying to get off when I tried to get the picture.

Three Island Crossing

Every year Glenn's Ferry, Idaho reenacts the three island crossing the first weekend in August. This was also Kuna Days weekend. The night before was there great fireworks display. We stay up a little too late. I didn't get any pictures, but Chris and Birdeena came with their kids. We had a great time.

Glenn's Ferry is the place on the Oregon Trail that the pioneers had to decide to take the Boise route which was much drier or cross the dangerous Snake River. There are 3 islands that they used to cross the river. It was till very dangerous to cross the river. This was the last year of the reenactments. I have been wanting to go for several years, but would always miss the date or something else would come up. So we planned on going since it would be the last chance to see it. Well I guess a lot of other people had the same idea. I had planned that we would get there about 30 minutes prior to the start of the wagons coming down the hill before crossing. I wasn't sure if I could get everyone moving much early since we were up late the night before.

When we arrived at Glenn's Ferry the freeway was backed up with traffic. Glenn's Ferry is a very small town and traffic does not flow very well. I had this bright idea park further back and walk because traffic was moving so slow. My good friend, Gabrielle is from Glenn's Ferry and I had stayed with her and her parents a long time ago and thought that the State Park was much closer than it actually was. We ended up walking about 2 miles with the kids and no stroller. Well to say the least, it was not the best idea. Amy was so grumpy about walking so far and Parker wanted to be carried. Well we didn't even get all the way there when we started seeing people walking back. They said that it was over. Come to find out they started early. What!! I can't believe we came 2 hours for nothing. We decided to keep going and ended up going to the museum and seeing the crossing on a movie. I guess it was better than nothing. I ran into Gabrielle's parents and her sister, which was fun. The kids enjoyed the wagons, buggies and horses. They also had a Tee Pee and tents with people dressed up telling stories. We still had fun, even though we missed what we came for. We ended up eating delicious huckleberry ribs for lunch and shakes. David walked back for the car, which was much better then making the kids walk. When we got home we went to the Fireman's barbecue for Kuna Days. It was a very fun weekend.

Monkey Buziness

The end of July my sister and I took our kids to a new place called Monkey Buziness. It was a fun place with a 3 big inflatables ,a toddler area and a big play structure. The kids had a lot of fun. They were definitely tired when we left. They all had permanent smiles on their faces.

This is the biggest slide. This was Amy going down. She actually when down it a couple of times. I am such a good mom, I couldn't help laugh when she screamed all the down. It was a very tall slide. I was surprised that Amy even wanted try it.

Parker went down this about 4 times and then he got hurt on the last time and then would have nothing to do with it. This was his first time going up. I was amazed how he climbed up there like it was no big deal. They both coming flying down it like a rocket. I think Hailey went down it the most, though.

Pioneer Day

I am really behind in my posts. This is on Pioneer Day. Our Stake had a breakfast with Pioneer games afterwards. David and Parker were stuck at home sick. Amy was all dressed up in her pioneer outfit that I made her 3 years ago. This is the 3rd time she has been able to wear it. There are draw strings around the neck, waist and arms so she can grow with it. This is a picture of her doing the potato sack race. She was excited about getting a prize for trying. I had to help her by lifting her up as she hopped.

Amy's first dance performance

Amy's first dance performance was at a farmer's market at the end of July. They only had six weeks to practice. I was so proud of Amy. She is usually very shy and doesn't like to be in front of a lot of people. It was cute to see the little girls dancing. Grandma, Grandpa, Holly, Tyler and Hailey were also there to see her dance. She is taking Ballet/tap dance class this fall. She really enjoys going to class and dancing.

Roaring Springs 2009

We had so much fun this summer going to Roaring Springs every chance we had. Parker loved all the slides and was not happy that he couldn't go down the big slides. Amy had fun with all of the kid slides and really enjoyed the swimming pool. We didn't get a chance to take swimming lessons this year, but maybe next year. She would swim around the pool with her life jacket on. We also enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa having passes this year. We didn't get a single picture with them though. It is hard to bring a camera to the water park.

I decided to get a video from the top of the big slide.

Here is Parker again on the big slide, I was able to capture what he always did at the very end. He would always try and get a new mat after we put his away. He would ride at least 2 or 3 times before getting tired. It is a long walk for a little boy.

This is Amy's favorite slide, nice and mellow.

Sacrament compared with Costco

Today at church while the sacrament was being passed around Parker tried to take a hand full of bread and Amy says to her brother, "Parker it is like a Costco snack, you can only take one!" Very funny! I think we must go to Costco way too often.
