Parker's hair cut

I decided to cut Parker's hair today. This will be his 3rd hair cut. The 1st one, my sister helped me with and the 2nd was just me with pair of clippers and scissors. (Scary!) He stayed still through the clipper part, but he had very little patience for the scissors. I ended up having a few uneven parts. I have spent the last several months fixing little parts that seemed a little too long. I have been very tempted to just let someone else do it.

Well today I decided I better do it now so it has time to grow out a little before his birthday. It was getting pretty thick. He just needed a little trim, but I ended up cutting more than I wanted. I thought I was using a longer comb on the clipper, but it still turned out pretty short. I used the clippers on his whole head this time. He did a lot better. I think it is even. There is one part that is a little shorter, but overall I think it turned out pretty good. I am still not sure I should continue trying to cut my son's hair.

Parker before the haircut, doing what he loves to do. He loves to watch music videos on You Tube. His loves "Move it, Move it" and anything with the movie Cars.

Front view before the hair cut. He didn't smile because he just wanted the camera.
The final results after a bath to get all the hair off of him. He refused to wear a towel around him to keep the hair off of him.

My happy little boy.

Play dough cake

A couple of weeks ago Amy was playing with play dough and made Parker a birthday cake. She was very proud of it and wanted me to take a picture of it. Very creative. She even wanted me to pretend to take a bite. She tried to get Parker to take a bite and I had to tell her no, because Parker might actually take a bite. Yuck!

Poisoned food

Last night Amy said the prayer for dinner. She had to pray that there would be no poison in the food. I had a really hard time not laughing. I asked her when she was done if poison was a big concern. She said yes. She said that her friend Aleena said there is poison in food. I love 4 year olds they say the funniest things. I told her I will make sure there is no poison in the food.

Cleaning with Amy

Today Amy and I cleaned the bathrooms together. She loved every minute of it. She wanted to try everything, but I wouldn't let her do the tub or the toilet because of the chemicals. She is always begging me to let her clean with me. I wish I loved to clean as much as she does. It is hard to let her clean with me because it takes a lot longer, but I know I need to. She usually says "Thanks for letting me clean Mom." I know I should also enjoy it while it lasts. I have a feeling this is something they lose as they get older.

Bum shaker

I keep meaning to post these pictures. The last weekend in February we went to McCall and stayed at my friend's family cabin. The cabin used to belonged to her great grandma. In the basement they had one of these old bum shakers (I don't know the real name) and it still worked. We had fun trying it out. It is just too bad that it easn't that easy. Just shake off the fat. LOL!

Parker was curious but didn't want the belt around him for the picture.
Looks pretty easy!

Amy had the machine on, but we were afraid it might knock her on the floor if she made it tight. She thought it was silly.

David had wishful thinking like me.

3:30 AM

Amy had a bad dream last night. Her room has become very messy within the last couple of weeks. All of the things in her room scared her after her dream. She came into our room shaking and crying. She would not go back into her room, no matter how much I tried to convince her. I even told her that I would lay down with her for a while. Well since it was 3:30 AM and I still wanted more sleep I told her she could sleep with us. That did not work. She would not fall back to sleep. David wakes up at 4:45 and I was worried that if she did go to sleep the dump alarm clock would wake her up. So at 4:30 I told her we had to go into her room so Daddy's alarm clock would not wake us up. She said "I will just plug my ears." I insisted and we finally went to her bed. I went in and out of sleep, but every time I looked at Amy (expecting her to be asleep) she was still wide awake. Finally at 5:45 when dad turned on the kitchen light I told her she could get up. Too say the least Amy was a little tired today, but I would not let her take a nap. I wanted her be tired tonight.

Daylight Savings continued...

So it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My kids seemed to have adapted very well so far. The hardest day was Sunday. We were a little late for church. Going to bed has been quite easy, but I think it helps that their bedrooms have blackout curtains. Amy does ask why she is going to bed when it is light outside, though. I am definitely looking forward to spring. I am ready to go to the park and being outside. I am not looking forward to putting on Sunscreen and bug spray though. I guess every season has it ups and downs.
